In light of the murder of Michael Brown and the continuing shame of Ferguson, Missouri… these words from Maya Angelou are still, and always, relevant. “Pick up the battle… it’s yours!”

  1. I find that I can’t find the right words. I just don’t understand how a country that is supposed to be the poster child for freedom, human rights, etc, etc, can be so violent and angry and intolerant.


    1. It makes me sadder than I can say that my country is still in the grips of such ignorant, racist hatred. I’m afraid we have already become the ‘poster child’ for something terrible and shameful. Where it ends, I don’t know.


      1. Your last sentence really makes the point. I’m afraid we haven’t reached the proverbial bottom yet. There is no evidence that meaningful, positive change is occurring.
